PROTEK 2K16, an event organized by the faculty, staff and students of Providence College of Engineering, was declared a resounding success by visitors and exhibitors.
Over the course of three days, from 19th to 21st January 2016, over 4000 students from higher secondary schools and polytechnic institutes visited the campus to witness exhibits and demonstrations by leading government and private organisations.
The event was filled with action packed rocket launches by students and professionals as well as technology showcases by organisations in the fields of space research, para military technology, transportation, computer software & hardware and even archaeology.
PROTEK 2K16 was inaugurated by Shr PC Vishnunath (MLA, Chengannur) and Shri N Padmakumar, IAS (District Collector, Alappuzha District) in the presence of local dignitaries and the college management, faculty, staff and students.

Shri Vishnunath also unveiled a new initiative by India Post with the first batch of Providence College branded postage stamps.
The Providence College bus fleet supported the event by ferrying students and teachers from nearby towns to and from the campus.
Conceptualised by the senior faculty and organized by the staff and students, PROTEK 2K16 was a collaborative affair with the objective of attracting future college students to the vast world of engineering and promoting Providence College as the premier institution to acquire the skills and experiences required to compete in the global marketplace.

In addition to the above, visitors to PROTEK 2K16 also witnessed a dispay of model aircraft and demonstrations of robotics and high altitude rocket launches.
For the first time, students at Providence College displayed and demonstrated 27 different projects that they had completed in the first semester of the year including an anti-theft locker guard, a smart wheel chair, a solar power bank and a signal jammer, among others.
The students also set up an entertainment area where visitors could participate in games to win prizes.
The exhibition was concluded on Thursday 21st January 2016 in the presence of Shri Kodikunnil Suresh (MP, Mavelikkara) who addressed the visitors and handed out mementos to all the exhibitors and key partners of the event.
